FRANCES by POPPY is about fusing old and new to challenge the current fashion cycle. Dressing the empowered women, going from home to work and evenings.
A graduate in sustainable fashion design at Whitecliffe College, Poppy has already made a mark in the direction of circular fashion. She has always been influenced by her Mum to buy less and to pick interesting pieces. During Poppy’s studies, a memorable mood board was dedicated to Organic Power which entails exactly what she is about. She says we are constantly taking from nature and we need to live in a way that promotes giving back to the earth. Prior to Whitecliffe, Poppy comleted a degree in Design for Innovation minoring in Marketing, however after living and travelling in and around London it was evident that she couldn’t avoid her calling to fashion. The pull towards Whitecliffe was too strong – and ended up being the best thing Poppy has ever embarked on.
It’s a way of dressing that resembles strength yet with delicate touches allows the wearer to accept vulnerability with a powerful come back brought through in the design lines.
The swings and roundabouts of design has definitely created many questions about how we are going to change the industry for the better. The impression the industry has given her is that we are ready to open the door to a new way of dressing. Poppy believes, despite a saturated design market and revolving styles, there’s a unique opportunity to fuse past and present together to create something new. She is passionate about promoting a way of dressing that turns back the clock and to buy quality over quantity. Poppy’s mission is to be able to withstand the global climate crisis by circulating fashion.
